Geek tattoos

Tattooing has been around for thousands of years and has a direct link to culture and symbolism of each culture. Tattooing has been a Eurasian practice at least since Neolithic times. Mummies bearing tattoos and dating from the end of the second millennium BC have been discovered at Pazyryk on the Ukok Plateau. Tags:

1 lockligger says:

Corporate logo tattoos are pretty awful. Does Apple pay them fanboys/girls every time they go outside?

Also, Impeach Bush? Would you really want a TATTOO of that?

2 Dave says:

these people don't deserve tattoos. tattoos are supposed to be spiritual and significant, and NEVER popular culture.

i would judge people very harshly for getting something as retarded as most of these, no matter their excuse.

except the old dude with a lawnmower on his bald spot :)

3 Rachael says:

Dave, I'm sorry but how do you know if that game is not significant to that person? I know some people who are in love with Zelda and have every single game...and gaming is their hobby and pretty much life...they even develop games...so how would something such as gaming not be significant when it describes who that person is...

4 Crispy says:

Tattoos do NOT have to be spiritual! Get out of your closed little box world and think outside a little. Tattos are art that can be anything that a person wants. Come on man. Lighten up.

5 Crispy says:

Oh! And wonderful artwork. I love the Okami and Resident Evil tats.

6 mike says:

Love the windows logo, thinkin of getting one myself. and that impeach bush one is fake.

7 kristin says:

The Impeach bush one is totally fake, you can see the clear bits of film around it. I agree on the sentiments though. Man some of those tats are awesome. (I have many tattoos myself, none of them pop-culture, but some of those would be spiritual to me.)

8 Different Dave says:

Some awesome artwork on some of those, comic book guy one was probably my favourite. There are a couple in there that look photoshopped or blatant fakes.

9 Sudo says:

Awesome. I really like the Ubuntu tat, I'm pretty uncomfortable about the corporate ones (especially the giant sidekick and vista logo), but I do love the nintendo ones and the Quake one.

But my favorite has got to be the Triforce Tramp-Stamp. Whoever that is, I love them.

10 Cameron says:

I like most of them, but some are just plain stupid. Now, I believe everyone should get tattoos for their own reasons. But c'mon, apple or microsoft tattoos? Sidekick tattoos?

What happens in 40 years when no one even remembers what a sidekick was? That would be the equivalent of someone in '50s getting a tattoo of a particular model of typewriter.

Technology changes fast. Games are one thing, they're kind of like movies, the become classics. But a particular operating system that will become obsolete in a few years?

11 Kevin says:

I agree that it is silly to get corporate tattoos of any kind, and most of these people with their apple tats think they are being edgy because they are under some misguided notion that apple is the greatest thing to have ever happen to personal computing.

12 Chris says:

Pretty cool. I dont like colored tats.. but some of those are cool. The quake logo was pretty sick and I'm very much a fan of any girl with an Apple tat. Thats sick. I've been thinking of getting an Apple tat myself for a while.

13 Sean says:

I think that the Impeach Bush Tattoo is a fake, look at the skin under the tat, its all wavy like a fake tattoo

14 jose cunha says:

do not I like of tattoos

15 dan says:

COOL!check out www.fusiontattoo.co.uk ifu like tats

16 Daniel says:

I agree, for many of those people, tattoos can be spiritual. There's a certain design that I found on deviantArt that I bookmarked that I'm saving up for, a variation of the classic "man's ruin" tattoo.
http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/44647967/?qo=7&q=by%3Aspacecoyote&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps
There's going to be a few variations, as I drink more Bawls than I do Mt. Dew, but other than that, I'm going to leave it pretty much unchanged. It's actually quite spiritual for me, as I finally found people that I get along with and identify with, accepting my being a geek and embracing it. (My GOD that sounded idiotic now that I read it.)

17 freak says:

WOW I want the Ubuntu tat! XD

18 omega says:

the tramp-stamp was tight but my favorite had to be the wrist-glider

19 ^(^^)^ says:

Well, it's not considered Geek until it has a konoha sign (I've actually seen one, thou), Soul Candy dispenser, or fruits basket chibis <3.

lol what dweeb would get a tattoo of a chair...?

20 Piotr Szymczak says:

nice & fun

21 Symph says:

One day I want the triforce one that that girl had on her lower back. Except I want it much smaller and more towards the upper back/ shoulder area.

22 will says:

dude these tattoos are awsome that zelda one came out awsome and so did the masterchief one and the nintendo controller too damn cool as fuck!!

23 Robert says:

Well I think tattoos are so common now a days its a reg. thing to go out and get a tat of anything you want. Good jobs guys. and btw its not because these people want to be a logo for the company they loves the chars in the game and the stories that go with them. you say "tattoos are supposed to be spiritual and significant". well god said not to get tattoos aka don't mark your body. are you going to get anymore because of religon?

24 Shane MacLeod says:

...um corporate logo tattoo's are probably the worst. Most of these people are trying to identify and classify themselves, no big deal - your body / your money - do what you please. The Guy with the lawn mower on his head is fake - it was part of a worth1000 photoshop contest, the the impeach bussh tattoo is obviously a fake temp tattoo... the dumbest is the chick with the HP lighting bolt on her head - your stupid. and the best is the dude with the f(x)=1/x

25 yeah says:

to shane macleod:

my stupid? or her stupid? what?
where can one purchase a stupid?
(this assumption is based on the possessive form of "your" used)
